Google Maps on Android are great, but they can be made a little better with this awesome mapping application available on every Android device running 2.1 and up called – Maverick Pro.

Maverick Pro is like having more then a dozen maps in your pocket. With tile sources from Nokia, Microsoft, OpenStreetMap and many many more, Maverick Pro is like an all-in-one app. Although it doesn’t include Bird’s Eye view from Microsoft’s Bing maps, it does have amazing satellite imagery from Nokia and Microsoft Virtual Earth. With Maverick Pro you also don’t have to worry about having an internet connection as long as you’ve pre-cached the maps on your device. This is an absolutely fantastic feature especially if you’re travelling across seas where cellular reception might not even be an option. Maverick Pro also lets you place way-points that can be customized with location, notes, pictures and shared via email. Maverick Pro offers additional info for geocachers out there as well as a compass, speedometer, live info about latitude, longitude and altitude and finally local search of all the places that are around your location. You can through each one to view a brief description and even available photos. You also have the option of recording a track that can also be opened in Google Earth – now that’s pretty cool.

All in all, Maverick Pro has tons of features and I’m sure I didn’t even hit all of them. This application has so much to offer, looks great and is very easy to use. If you’re looking for a mapping app for your Android device, than Maverick Pro is definitely the one you want.
