Dietlikon, Switzerland – Demodit GmbH today is pleased to introduce Bubble Shooter Space Edition 1.0 for iOS, their new version of the classic puzzle, shooter, arcade game. Players fire colored spheres from the bottom of the screen at dozens of closely packed spheres above, with the aim of matching 3 or more contiguous spheres of the same color, which then vanish. The goal is to score points and clear the board of all spheres before they descend to the bottom of the screen. The app includes numerous variations on the game’s theme, raising it to one of the best Bubble Shooters anywhere.
* Classic match-3 shooter, puzzle game
* Fire a sphere to create a contiguous group of 3 or more spheres of the same color
* Creating matches scores points and removes matched spheres
* Use bonus spheres at the right time to maximize scoring
* Plan ahead by taking notice of the color of the next sphere to be shot
First introduced in 2001, Bubble Shooter has endured because of its simple, engaging gameplay. Bubble Shooter Space Edition contains both cosmetic and substantive differences from the original. Rather than colored bubbles, balloons, or marbles, players fire at identically sized planets: Earth, Moon, Venus and Mars. The game mechanics are the same as the original, including the ability to carom shots off the side walls. Matching a long chain may have the benefit of causing the planets encircled by the chain to drop off the screen when the chain is destroyed. The subtle shadings of the planets and excellent sound effects add to the quality of gameplay.
Bubble Shooter Space Edition has added some new features and mechanics, which enhance the gaming experience considerably. First, there are bonus planets, which when matched create a higher score, cause an explosion, push the mass of descending planets back, or temporarily freeze their downward movement. These bonus planets add a great deal of variety to the game and open a myriad of strategic possibilities. Second, instead of a single bubble at the bottom of the screen that is aimed and fired, Space Edition includes two additional bubbles to the left and right of the shooter. The left planet is a preview of the next sphere that will be loaded following the shot. The right planet is a bonus planet that can be selected for use at any time.
And last, unlike the original, the tension of the descending spheres is continual, as they are always slowly moving downward (rather than descending suddenly, a full row at a time). With higher levels come more spheres, starting at Level 1 with a grid 10 planets wide and 7 planets deep, and then Level 2, with 10 x 8, etc. A digital scoreboard displays real-time scoring, and scores are saved within the app. There is a time limit to the game, but it is not a fixed limit. Gameplay can continue until all spheres are removed or any sphere is pushed off the bottom of the screen. Most players will begin to feel the time pressure of descending bubbles long before they are close to clearing the screen.
“Our goal in designing Bubble Shooter Space Edition was to modernize this classic arcade game,” stated Thomas Burgmann of Demodit GmbH. “The game now includes more strategic possibilities, more playing styles, and greater challenges than ever.”
