Hong Kong, Hong Kong – Wimlog today is pleased to introduce Cats in Black 1.0 for iOS, its fiendishly clever, sliding puzzle game, where players move one or more cats within an 8×11 grid with the goal of capturing an egg. Gamers need to plan several moves ahead, while following the simple rules of the game: a cat must always alternate between horizontal and vertical moves. To win, players must visualize a series of up/down and left/right moves to capture the egg, use obstacles to their advantage, strategically relocate movable objects, and avoid landing on corner squares that drop a cage on the cat.
Cats in Black is played within an 8×11 grid of 88 squares and there are one, two, or three eggs, depending on the presence of one, two, or three cats. Obstacles occupy one square each and puzzles may have from 10 – 25 obstacles. Some puzzles may include a movable object that occupies a single square. Eggs and obstacles are immovable, while cats and movable objects are not. Cats cannot move through obstacles.
Cats in Black includes 36 puzzles in three Levels from Easy to Medium to Hard. Each puzzle has a strategic theme, and if players replay a puzzle, whether by choice or not, the game automatically generates a completely different puzzle that may incorporate the same theme or one of three other themes.
* Sliding puzzle game appears easy at first glance
* Move one or more cats per puzzle to capture the eggs
* All movement must alternate between horizontal and vertical directions
* Use obstacles to restrict movement and get closer to the egg
* Use movable objects to create an obstacle wherever it is needed
* Avoid becoming trapped in a corner, which drops a cage on the cat
Touching a cat at the start of a puzzle displays its range of movement (moving green arrows) horizontally, vertically, or both. After the first move, touching a cat continues to display its range of movement, which will be horizontal if its previous move was vertical and vertical if its previous move was horizontal. All moves are made as far as possible in the legal directions. In this way, when players touch a cat they see its complete range of movement, either N/S or E/W. Cats always have a choice between only two moves: as far up or down as possible; or as far left or right as possible.
With experience, players discover how to work backwards from capturing an egg to their current position. Puzzles have multiple solutions and this strategy often works. However, some players may need to start making moves to get a feeling for the challenges and traps contained within the puzzle.
“Cats in Black are going to steal all the eggs inside an ancient Egyptian pyramid!” stated Nelson Lee of Wimlog. “This is a most challenging game, truly designed for puzzle game lovers!”
