Rochester, New York – Tres Madres, Inc., today is pleased to announce their first update of FearShrinker, featuring studio quality sound, smoother user interface, and updated for iOS6. FearShrinker is a children’s app available exclusively for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. FearShrinker helps young children (4-8 years old) identify and cope with fears and worries along with “Puffy” the fish.
Many young children react very fearfully to new situations or people, or other daily events such as the dark or leaving their parents, while they are actually safe. Other children worry ahead of time about these events or other situations in which they experienced fear. “FearShrinker guides young children to reduce their fear response by choosing effective coping strategies,” said Dr. Keshishian, one of the founders of Tres Madres, Inc. FearShrinker is based on the idea that children have unique personalities and coping styles. With this product, they can create a tailor-made approach to reducing their fears.
Children do not need to be able to read to use FearShrinker because it is an audio-enabled app. After the child plays with the program, the parent and child can view the results summary together to learn the child’s most effective coping strategies. “When kids have Puffy by their sides, they have the courage to tackle their fears!” said Dr. Keshishian. “What kids love about FearShrinker is they get to pick out their specific fear(s) and then choose their favorite coping mechanism(s) to practice feeling better. They also really love playing with the fear thermometer and tracking their progress,” said Dr. Keshishian.
