Graz, Austria – Individual developer Gerald Aquila announced today that Firetask’s cloud-syncing is now fully automated and running completely in the background. The cloud service is free for basic syncing and allows to easily sync your task repositories between any number of Macs, iPads, iPhones and iPod touches. The update is delivered through new versions of Firetask for Mac, iPhone and iPad respectively. Firetask for Mac also includes a number of new features and usability improvements such as “Checklists”, new optional views, a customizable sidebar and a configurable quick-entry hotkey. For the first time Firetask for Mac is now also sandboxed in the Mac App Store version.
“With cloud-syncing now being automated and running completely in the background the whole user experience is improved”, said Gerald Aquila. “Checklists are also great: they allow you to easily reuse frequently needed task lists in new or existing projects.”
The new optional views include “Priorities”, “Assigned”, and “Starred” and can be switched on using the customizable sidebar functionality. “Priorities” shows you all actionable tasks grouped by priority, a feature that was often requested by existing users. “Assigned” groups all waiting for tasks by their assignees allowing you to easily focus on things you have delegated to a particular person. “Starred” allows you to narrow your focus to just tasks that you have marked as starred.
Firetask lets you focus on the most important due and next tasks across all projects by combining concepts from David Allen’s Getting Things Done(R) (GTD(R)) approach with practical elements of classical task management such as due dates and priorities. Its unique “Waiting For” list makes it easy to keep track of delegated tasks and its highly visual user interface improves the clarity of task lists without overloading them. Unlike other task management apps, Firetask explicitly organizes all tasks into projects and thus, makes it easier to manage great numbers of open tasks. Firetask for Mac and iPad also feature a kanban-style “Organize” view that was specifically designed to help GTD(R) practitioners with their weekly review.
