Scottsdale, Arizona – More than 20 million Americans report having low vision which impacts daily activities like reading, taking medications and watching television, according to the National Health Interview Survey. Low vision is a significant reduction of visual function that cannot be fully corrected by ordinary glasses or contact lenses. According to the developer Troy Anderson, users of the Over 40 Magnifier and Flashlight app are using the iPhone app to help with their disability.
The App, available on the iTunes App Store, uses the phone’s camera and flash to magnify and light objects or documents, making them easier to see. A recent user said “I’m partially sighted and this app makes every day easier for me. Please keep up with developments! It’s a great app!”
“I was surprised and moved that my app could help in such a significant way. While I developed the app to help people read menus in restaurants, I really enjoy hearing how others are using it.” According to Mr. Anderson, the users have reported using the app with their stamp collections, reading the fine print, and having a flashlight in their pocket.
With over 750,000 Apps on Apple’s iTunes app store, it is very hard to find high quality useful apps to use. According to its users, this app appears to be one of the good ones.
