Mainz, Germany – The next big update for the popular genealogy apps MacFamilyTree 6 and MobileFamilyTree Pro is available now and offers a lot of major new features. Those are the most important changes:
Research Assistant (Mac, iPhone and iPad):
Ever been stuck in your research? No clue where to continue the research or even where to begin? The new Research Assistant in MacFamilyTree 6.3 and MobileFamilyTree Pro 1.2 analyzes your tree database and helps you identify missing information in your family tree by asking easy questions about your relatives.
Media Gallery (Mac, iPhone and iPad):
The Media Gallery has been completely rewritten from scratch and makes it easier than ever to browse all pictures, audio, video and PDF files found in your family tree. The new Media Gallery automatically groups media by person or family and brings up a preview of your image with a single click.
Document Scanning (Mac):
MacFamilyTree 6.3 comes with built-in document scanning software. Scanning source documents has never been easier: Simply open the new scanning sheet from the media palette, select your scanner and hit the scan button. MacFamilyTree 6.3 automatically imports the scanned document into your family tree database. (OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or later required)
Version 6.3 of MacFamilyTree comes as a fully sandboxed app. Apple is requesting new security measures for all apps on OS X 10.7 Lion or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, Version 6.3 fully adheres to the new security standard.
New Startup Window (Mac):
MacFamilyTree’s Startup Window has been completely redesigned. All available family tree databases on your Mac are easily accessible with a single click. No more cumbersome searches for files on your Mac where you’ve saved your family tree, all your databases can now be accessed from the startup window.
MacFamilyTree 6.3 requires an Intel Mac running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X 10.7 Lion or the new OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.
Mobile FamilyTree Pro requires an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 4.3 and later. The new iPhone 5 is fully supported.
