Producer 1.0.2 for iOS – Manage All Details of Film and Video Production
Pyrmont, Australia – THS today is pleased to introduce Producer 1.0.2 for iOS, their app for managing the details of film and video projects, and the production process itself. Incorporating easy text and photo import/export, the sophisticated Project and Portfolio Management app includes the following functions: Production Portfolio, Casting, Crew Call Sheet, Budget, Script & Shoot List, and Locations. Producer allows the user to store, manage, and link all production information in a single app. Ideal for use by producers and directors of feature films, all department heads, line producers, cinematographers, writers, casting agents, etc. will benefit from having a single, authoritative source of production information. The app has also been designed for independents, still photographers, theatrical producers, music video producers, commercial producers, etc.
Producer opens in portrait mode to the Production Portfolio page, which presents an overview of all projects in every stage of production. New projects may be added and existing projects are tiled on the page, showing either the project image or the project title if no image has been added. From the Project Details window there are empty text fields for all the following:
* Film Name
* Director
* Writer
* Distributor
* Genre
* Aesthetics
* Plot
* Notes
* Preproduction Start and End Dates
* Principle Photography Start and End Dates
* Post Production Start and End Dates
All date and dollar entries are simplified using the Apple iOS picker, or “infinite odometer.” Following setup of the project, there is now a square labeled icon (with optional photo) displayed on the Projects page. Touching the icon opens the Project Summary Window that contains information from all six categories.
From the casting window each member of the Cast can be given an individual Profile, which can be input directly, or imported from other Projects, allowing the producer to build a network of regular, reliable contacts. When a new actor is added, the following details may be entered:
* Role
* Notes
* Age
* Height
* Sex
* Shoe Size (for wardrobe)
* Ethnicity (for makeup)
* Hair Color
* Dress/Shirt Size (for wardrobe)
* Training (required for this role)
* Experience
* Phone
* Email
* Confirmed (whether they have accepted the contract for this project)
* Images (from other roles)
Accessing the Crew window, users may display stored information, import info from other projects, and add new entries:
* An Image (from iPhone Pictures folder)
* Name
* Job Title
* Experience
* Notes
* Phone (from iPhone Contacts)
* Email (from iPhone Mail)
* Rate
* Agent
* Status (whether the Member has confirmed the contract)
The Budget screen allows the user to monitor all project costs. Producer allows adding a budget to each Project, and then keeps track of all expenditures during both pre-production and production. Opening the project Budget panel, Producer shows the totals for above and below the line expenditures, and details both projected and actual costs. The app also provides a range of categories typically involved in media production, which are all editable, and can be ignored or deleted if not required. Above the Line Costs that may be entered are:
* Producer
* Director
* Writer
* Actors
Below the Line Costs that may be entered are:
* Hair & Make-up
* Gaffer
* Camera Operator
* Sound
* Art Direction & Styling
* Key Grip
* Director of Photography
* Wardrobe
* Location & Sets
* Props
Touching the Script button displays the script, or allows addition of script elements. Scripts may be split into sections, with each section having a title, body, and an icon, which will be used to identify the scene. Alternatively, this can be used as a practical shoot list. The icon image can be taken from the Casting folder, from the Locations folder or from the Photos folder on the iPhone. Script pages may be added one at a time using the plus (+) button, creating a complete outline of the project. The Script pages do not contain actual dialog, but describe the direction the scene should take, key plot points, and significant developments.
Each Location description and/or photo used within the Project can be catalogued within Producer. The details of each Location can be added, or can be imported from other Projects. Visual Reference is a key feature of Producer – photos from any part of the app may be shared by any other part to create continuity and cross-linking. Individual projects may be scrutinized, and multiple projects compared.
“There are thousands of details to keep track of on a shoot, and Producer for iOS puts them all in one integrated, cross-referenced app,” stated Senior Project Manager Serge Kozak. “Throughout all phases of pre-production and production, Producer will help producers track and manage multiple projects efficiently.”
