Seattle, Washington – React Mobile, a new safety app for iTunes and Google Play, has launched the first version of its safety enhancement apps called React – Standard Edition. When in danger, users can let family, friends, and 911 know their location by activating the app’s SOS Alert feature. When activated, an SOS alert with the user’s GPS coordinates is sent to pre-selected emergency contacts via SMS/text, email, and Facebook. Over the coming months
“It is our goal to eliminate the need for blue light safety phones,” said Monkman. “One of the tools that a realtor-and other service professionals-almost always have at their disposal is their cell phone or PDA. The React Mobile app turns your cell phone or PDA into an SOS lifeline and also allows users to report incidents and criminal activity.”
Both Monkman and Wallace have worked to deliver communication solutions to the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland security, and they now want to bring their knowledge to the everyday consumer. After one of the founders was held at gunpoint in his own home, the need for a product like React Mobile seemed obvious.
“We have been in the emergency communications space for quite some time, so we are not guessing about the needs of users,” said Monkman. “We know firsthand what we need to deliver to make this a safety tool that people will actually use.”
React – Standard Edition focuses on personal safety for adults who may frequently be alone with strangers as a part of their job. This version allows users to contact their safety network with the press of a button. The application centers around three core capabilities: SOS alerting with GPS location sharing, group messaging, and SMS mass notification. While developed with real estate agents in mind, this app is also a must-have for anyone who may have to walk a few blocks alone to their car or home at night. This version is available in the iTunes Store and Android Market.
Over the coming months, React Mobile will be launching two enhanced versions of their mobile app specialized for families and universities. React Mobile’s Family version is designed to keep families secure. The SOS alert function activates a silent SOS with the user’s GPS location; this is sent directly to family and a list of pre-selected emergency contacts via email, text message, and Twitter/Facebook. React Mobile’s University app is where this project began, and is scheduled for release in fall of 2012. This app allows campuses to alert students to potential danger on campus, and to gather statistical data that will help them track which areas of campus need improved security, lighting, and cameras.
React Mobile’s safety applications start at $8.99 for React – Standard Edition, the enhanced Family and University versions will be available in the coming months at incremental pricing with optional GPS tag service for a monthly fee.
