Berlin, Germany – Aided by education professionals and under constant child play-testing, Reflare UG – a German company run out of Japan and Korea – has developed and published “Mr. Bumblebee” for iOS and Android. Mr. Bumblebee provides 5 separate play modes teaching colors, numbers, counting, shapes and basic abstract thinking. Developed for children aged 3 to 6, Mr. Bumblebee features happy graphics and professional voice acting while protecting young users from outgoing links and social media.
Computers have helped to greatly advance the education of adolescents and adults. However, their mouse-and-keyboard interface makes them abstract to use and thus unsuited for the education of small children. Modern mobile phones and tablets will change this by allowing even small children to interact with technology using simple touch controls. Mr. Bumblebee attempts to leverage this interface to teach small children about:
* Basic abstract thinking
Abstract thinking is taught by combining a color and a shape, forcing the child to delay his/her actions and combine the information provided.
While it is of course highly advisable for parents to play Mr. Bumblebee together with their children, the game was designed from the ground up to allow children to play autonomously. There are no wrong menu choices, no texts, no outgoing links and no integrated social media features. Rewards are given in the form of words of encouragement spoken by an excited motherly female voice.
During tests, this approach has shown to work best for children of the target age group between 3 and 6 but also excited children as young as 2 and as old as 10. Reflare intends to continuously improve Mr. Bumblebee based on the feedback received by users and welcomes all forms of feedback and criticism from parents.
