Marquette, Michigan – Available now, ValueTracker is a grocery price book app for iPhone and iPod touch users.
A price book is a means to track changes in the price and size of products you frequently buy so you can save money by 1) identifying sale patterns and seasonal shifts in pricing, 2) calculating and comparing unit pricing, and 3) determining the lowest price at which to buy a product.
ValueTracker makes it easy and convenient to maintain a price book. Simply create a list of stores where you shop. For each store create a list of products you frequently buy. Include the product name, size, price, purchase date, and an optional photo. Update the price and size of a product whenever either changes. These updates are kept in a chronological list so you can determine sale patterns and save money by only buying at the lowest price. The app is a low cost investment for potentially big grocery savings.
Beyond these basic price book features, ValueTracker includes a Unit Pricing Comparison Calculator so you can compute and compare the unit prices of up to four products at a time. There is a Search feature so you can compare the price of a product between all the stores where you have listed it. And all store, product, and pricing information can be exported in a printable format so you have a backup of your data in case of device damage or loss.
“The USDA expects food prices to increase in 2013 due to this year’s drought,” said T.R.Baillargeon, developer of ValueTracker. “Now is the time to start tracking products so you can make smart, money-saving choices not just next year but every year. Why pay more.”
