Vilnius, Lithuania – Independent game developer, Antanas Marcelionis today is pleased to announce the release of The Howler 1.0.0, his beautiful new game title for iOS/Android/PC/Mac. Voice control in itself is nothing new, but The Howler, a game of touch and scream, takes this to new heights. You control an air balloon, flying over an ancient city, and work on one mission after another, picking up and delivering things, and then the game gets really challenging, with dungeons and bombs and stuff.
The principle is simple: the louder you scream, the higher the balloon goes, and when you are quiet, it goes down. You use wind currents to go where you need to go. You can scream or sing any song you like, and it does get bizarre as you go through a songbook in your head.
There is also a conventional touch control for those who have touchy-feely neighbours.
The Howler is set in a real ancient city of Vilnius, with graphics that are out of this world. The graphic designer of the project, Ren Petrulie (63), has never had anything to do with computers, so the imagery was created the old-fashioned way, and it paid off: The Howler is easily the most visually captivating game since computer games began.
The plot, reflected in succinct narrative of the missions, is based on a bestselling Lithuanian steampunk novel (English version of the book is coming soon), but it is all about the balloon action and air navigation, which will get players hooked. The appeal of the game is in the refined simplicity of controls, combined with an extensive navigation environment.
