Stanhope, New Jersey – Apple’s App Store welcomed Winery Passport to its Food & Drink offerings on Monday. Winery Passport connects wine drinkers to the best locally produced wines in the United States.
“Winery Passport is your mobile travel companion when it comes to wineries,” said creator Scott Stanchak, president of BakBurner Digital, LLC. “It’s your pocket guide, journal and direct line to friends who love great wine for cultivating a wonderful tasting experience.”
Winery Passport users can discover wineries through the app’s nearby or state search. Users may then stamp their passports with each visit and record details of the trip in their journal. Those details include rating the winery, listing the favorite wines tasted and uploading a photo. The app also syncs with Facebook and Twitter so users can share those favorites and ratings with their Winery Passport connections.
“We wanted to build a product for wine lovers to interact and share feedback regarding which wines excite their palates,” said Stanchak. “You just may find those perfect pairings for your next food and wine meal with Winery Passport.”
Once a passport is stamped, users may share that trip via email, text, Facebook or Twitter. It’s another one of the personal experience that makes Winery Passport so engaging.
“Users may also personalize their passport with a Facebook, Twitter or custom photo,” Stanchak said. “Make that photo a favorite bottle of pinot grigio, your impressive wine cellar, the vineyard you loved in Napa, a glass of your most recommended vino, anything you’d like.”
There are nearly 1,000 wineries listed in Winery Passport, each featuring an address, map link, phone number and website. There is also the opportunity to become an Authorized Winery, which enhances the listing with several photos, an email address, Facebook and Twitter links and some text, along with a flagged state search listing. Being featured at the top of the state search is another exclusive option, available to only one winery per
Winery Passport is also featuring certain wineries at the top of their state search.
“There are several opportunities for wineries to stand out in our app,” Stanchak added. “The Authorized listing is a great way to get noticed in a crowded state list, as well as provide some insightful info to potential tasters.”
At launch, Winery Passport features wineries in 17 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia and West Virginia. Stanchak expects to reach 25 states by August.
“We’re going to continue to refine Winery Passport to make it the premiere winery app in the Store today,” Stanchak said. “We want to make sure it’s close to perfect by the time we reach Napa and the rest of Wine Country.”
