Seattle, Washington – Indie developer Tony Yustein today is proud to announce Secutor app for iOS is now free from now on. Secutor is an app that generates S/MIME email encryption certificates on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Secutor enables users to email each other using the S/MIME encryption method, which is the only native email encryption option on iOS. At this time, there is no other app on the App StoreSM that can generate the required certificates that carry the public/private keys allowing email messages to be securely encrypted. Using the certificates generated by Secutor, user’s email messages are encrypted using RSA Asymmetrical 2048-bit Encryption, which is not expected to be deciphered until 2030, even by the NSA.
Since iOS 5 S/MIME encryption was available in the Mail App but there was no app in the App Store which provided the needed public/private key pair certificates. Secutor is the first and currently the only app which provides this functionality. Users of the app can also search their address books using the app to see if their friends are already using the app or not. Exchanging S/MIME encrypted messages requires users’ public keys to be installed on both devices. Secutor provides an easy to access directory for users to install their friends’ public key certificates.
“We are happy that now anyone can use encrypted emails on their devices for free”. Mr Yustein said: “We were the first app which provides S/MIME encryption for the public. Originally we priced our app at $9.99 but with the feedback from our users and the current state of government snooping on emails we decided to change the price our app to free. We hope that our app will contribute to iPhone users’ right to privacy of their emails.”
