Washington, District of Columbia – Freedom House is proud to announce the release of its first-ever iPhone app, which is available today for download free of charge at the Apple iTunes Store. The new app, created by Joshua Browder, allows mobile users to easily access Freedom House ratings, reports, and commentary. Freedom House is an independent watchdog organization that supports democratic change, monitors the status of freedom around the world, and advocates for democracy and human rights.
“At the press of a button, you can check the freedom rating of any country in the world or get the latest insights on key human rights stories,” said Daniel Calingaert, executive vice president at Freedom House. “This app is a great way to stay informed of challenges to democracy worldwide.”
The application provides the country ratings and narratives from Freedom in the World, Freedom of the Press, Freedom on the Net and Nations in Transit reports. Users can also view a live feed of breaking news updates and blog posts, stream video from past events, see photos from our photo contests, and share content through Facebook and Twitter.
