Wichita, Kansas – QuickerTek, the technology leader in mobile power and wireless networking for Apple computers, has created an upgrade for older Apple MacBooks to take advantage of the latest wireless technology. A simple USB device produced from this company allows older PowerBooks to have the same quicker 802.11ac networking which is built into the latest MacBooks. Because of the new AC Quicky, faithful MacBook users don’t have to settle for slower networking speeds, in an otherwise very capable laptop. The AC Quicky is available from QuickerTek and their resellers for $149 USD.
The reason for the effectiveness of the 802.11 AC Wi-Fi technology in the latest MacBook Air is that it uses wider RF bandwidth – 5GHz spectrum, higher modulation and a number of other technologies to boost wireless speeds. The 802.11a/b/g/n ac specification has an expected multi-station WLAN throughput of at least 1 gigabit per second and a single link throughput of at least 500 megabits per second (500 Mbps). Consequently, 802.11n is now half as fast as the new AC networking standard.
The AC Quicky uses the same chipset as Apple so users may know that their upgraded MacBooks, Pro’s and Air’s maintain all of the compatibility that a new MacBook Air offers. Networking drivers are included in the Mac OS, and users need not struggle to find working drivers after Apple issues an update.
The AC Quicky works with all of the popular wireless network equipment – including wireless access points from Dlink, NetGear and many others. It also installs into any USB port and includes saved software on a USB or SD card. Once installed, the MacBook is ready to connect and use any wireless network – at the fastest speeds available.
Rick Estes, QuickerTek president, stated, “Doubling your wireless speed is a huge win for Mac users everywhere. There’s no reason to replace your trusty laptop just because the wireless is slower – just upgrade it.” Estes then went on to describe the practical usage of his new product. “If you want to watch videos online, but the slow speed turns you off, this new AC Quicky networking is the answer.” This USB upgrade is a simple solution to the issue of slow networking speeds in old computers, and the product can be easily trusted because its drivers are from Apple. The AC Quicky is also backwards compatible, making it capable of functioning across any network with any of the favored wireless networking setups. Estes went on to conclude his statement, saying, “It’s easy to install, easy to stay current with drivers and it’s smokin’ fast.”
