San Francisco, California – Responsive Web Design has become a top trend in web development, allowing for designers to craft a single page which will scale appropriately across a wide variety of devices and screen sizes. There have not been good solutions for responsive designs incorporating animated content, until now. Tumult Hype 2.5’s Flexible Layout options give users control over how animated elements are positioned and scaled when the document resizes. It uses a model of “Springs and Struts,” familiar to iOS developers, and extends it with innovative features such as preserving aspect ratios for images. Hype animations will fit in well to existing responsive web designs or look great on standalone pages.
Tumult Hype 2.5 contains many more top features. It now has the ability to export compositions as Video files or Animated GIFs, which will unlock new markets in which Tumult Hype can be used. The release includes new localizations for the following languages: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Chinese, and Japanese. Other features include support for retina images, automatic image optimization, and setting the anchor point for rotation.
Alongside Tumult Hype 2.5, Tumult Inc. is also releasing Hype Reflect 1.1, its companion app for previewing Hype animations on iOS devices. The new release has been redesigned to look great on iOS 7.
“We crafted version 2.5 as a love letter to our users,” says Jonathan Deutsch, CEO of Tumult Inc. “Support for Responsive Design was far and away the most requested feature, and for good reason. Designers will now be able to craft one animation that will look stunning on everything from a 4-inch phone to a 27-inch desktop browser. I can’t wait to see what users create.”
Tumult Hype is primarily targeted at designers wanting to add effects to their sites, developers who need to make content for iOS devices, and HTML5 coders looking for more effective ways to improve interactivity. It supports the latest HTML5/CSS3 features and uses an intuitive keyframe-based animation system with a recorder to create effective motions and transitions. No coding is required, though animations can be extended through a Javascript API. Tumult Hype has been used by publications such as the LA Times, Washington Post, and Reuters for infographics, advertising agencies for animated ads, K-12 and higher education to create interactive lessons, NASA to show exploration roadmaps, ePub/iBook authors, and by many designers adding a “wow”-factor to their sites.
