Gehofen, Germany – Briksoftware today is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 3 of their power-supply notification system UnPlugged for OS X, an update that makes UnPlugged available even more users, by providing localization support for a variety of languages. Sitting in the menu bar, UnPlugged is easily accessible and can be quickly used to identify the current power status. The update adds compatibility for the Notification Center and adds the ability to have a higher frequency of battery discharge notifications, when the battery charge is getting empty.
Modern MacBooks introduce two issues: unnoticed unplugging due to the MagSafe power connector and the hidden menu bar when applications run in fullscreen mode, removing the battery status from sight. UnPlugged tries to solve both issues by presenting highly visible notifications to the user that tell him about the current power source and the current battery charge.
To show the notifications, UnPlugged can use either OS X’s build-in Notification Center or use Growl, an application that provides lots of customization options for notifications. In OS X 10.7 or 10.6, where neither Growl nor the Notification Center may be available, UnPlugged even uses its built in notification system.
* Notification of unplugging or plugging in the power cord
* Notifications of charging or discharging of the battery with different intervals for full or empty batteries
* Perfect system-integration – runs in the background and stays out of the way
* Notification Center support – have the notifications delivered to the notification center in OS X
* Growl support – see beautiful icons, reflecting the current change of the battery when the Growl is running
* Menu Item – see the battery status in the menu bar
* Retina Display Support
* Localizations: English, German, Italian, Russian, Simplified Chinese
* Supports OS X 10.6 – 10.8
UnPlugged can be easily accessed via the desktop menu bar. The menu item will show if the power cord is plugged or if the Mac is running on battery power. The menu can optionally show the current battery charge in percent.
UnPlugged provides two kinds of notifications. It notifies when the power cord is either plugged or unplugged and it notifies when the battery charge changes. UnPlugged can be configured which notifications should be created and in which interval. Starting with version 3, UnPlugged also provides the ability to change the interval between a full and an empty battery so that a notification can be shown for every changing percent as soon as the battery is almost empty, while a notification is only shown every 10 or 20 percent, when the battery is still quite full.
“Don’t watch your power cord, have UnPlugged do it for you” stated Briksoftware’s Karsten Kusche.
* Macintosh OS X 10.6.6 or later
* 14.5 MB
